Erik Simon Vuoritie will be opening the show, More info: Banging on drums at age 2 and starting classical guitar study at 5, Erik Simon Vuoritie learned at an early age that life without music is no life at all. Now, a 17-year-old student at Westbrook High School, Erik plays a combination of classical, Spanish and Latin American guitar music along with his classical-inspired arrangements of Beatles and popular melodies. Erik studies classical guitar with Alexander Vlassenkov and plays guitar and trumpet in the WHS jazz band. His guitar skills have taken him to the White House for a program hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama and to Siena, Italy as part of a strings chamber music program organized by members of the Hartford Symphony. Erik performs as a professional musician in musical theater pit bands and as a solo instrumentalist for special events along the Connecticut shoreline. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhBz9m-4sj0 |
