This detail photograph of the painting reveals
the form and texture of the heavily laden brush strokes and the
lower right hand corner of the frame. This large oil painting
on linen canvas measuring 30 inches by 40 inches unframed and
35 inches by 45 inches framed was painted by Connecticut Impressionist
artist Leif Nilsson in his home town of Chester, CT on cold grey
evenings in the winter of 1998. The composition depicts the artis's
view from his studio window on Spring Street during a snowy night.
The warmth of the glow from the lamp post and the lights in the
windows give the viewer a feeling of hope that there is life inside
the welcoming buildings. Continue looking at details of this painting
