This oil painting on linen canvas measures 36 inches by 54 inches
unframed and 41 inches by 59 inches framed. The canvas was painted
by Connecticut Impressionist Artist Leif Nilsson in the autumn
of 2001 from the garden at North Cove, Old Saybrook, CT, at the
mouth of the Connecticut River. The afternoon light is bathing
the catboats with its warm glow. The distant tree line in the
east is Old Lyme, CT where the artist was born and first introduced
to impressionism. The rose hips in the foreground are planted
next to a row of lavender. The breeze gently draws a path in the
channel of the cove. This detail image shows the artist's signature
on the lower left hand corner, as well as the finished corner
frame, which was handmade by Leif Nilsson in his Spring Street
